Hi everyone, I am coming on here to discuss some things I have noticed as a frequent non-union/EMC "auditioner" in NYC at ECC and EPA'S. It truly hurts my heart that we are not being kind to one another at SOME of these auditions. During the Sweeney Todd ECC there was two lists created. One was told to be made the night prior (but there was no evidence of that) and another one was made because of the speculation of the first. The first list ended up being thrown away. There was about 30 names on the first list. It was like that at 5 AM with the Cabaret Dance ECC as well; so I am not sure why people thought it was put their the night before. When trying to explain that two lists cant be brought to the monitor or else it would be thrown away and a new list in the room will be made, people were yelling at me and telling me I know "nothing". Then I was told if I dont stay and wait in line my name will be erased... I have never been previously treated like this by fellow actors. I just wanted to come on here to remind ourselves these things... 1. We are all trying to get a job; one that we love doing 2. We are all working hard 3. We are all navigating through post-pandemic procedures 4. We all need to be kinder to EACHOTHER and OURSELVES!
Getting to Pearl or the AEA building at 2 or 3 AM to stand in line is not doing any good to our bodies. You are not going to be able to perform your best under the conditions you are putting your body through. Being first is not everything; I promise. Moral of the story is please be kinder to yourselves and your fellow peers!!! 🤗
