I worked a 6 week contract at the end up their summer season last year and had a great time!!
pros:
• great folks working For this theatre
• excellent quality shows and performances
• loved pretty much every performer on this contract
• cutest little town in the Berkshire’s
• artistically fulfilling
• 500/wk min for non-eq
• biweekly cleaning for cast housing
• shared company cars, walkable to theatre from cast housing
• fun and healthy work/play balance
cons:
• shared rooms in housing
• housing is large old houses that need serious updating
• backstage area is pretty small
• Theatre could use some updating
i would definitely do another contract with the Mac! however a lot of company members had contracts that last up to i believe 14 weeks, so they might’ve had a different experience. For my 6 weeks I had a great time.
Agreed! I made great money on my last contract here. The costuming and wigs are unbeatable! It's some of the best styling I've ever experienced in my theatre career and everyone is so kind and wonderful.
love the Mac. incredible staff, they have upgraded pay and lifestyle (no more actor tech and great non union pay). Ive done two full summers there, met some of my best friends, made lifelong memories, went hiking, saw waterfalls, ate the BEST local food, worked with the most talented people I've ever met, worn the most gorgeous wigs EVER (seriously the wigs there are next level) and put on some of the most inspiring shows I've ever done. That being said there were many tears LOL the days used to be SO long and maybe still are, its like broadway bootcamp and the shared housing is definitely outdated and tricky to navigate. But all in all, I would go back in a heartbeat. No theatre is perfect and I will take the old housing for the incredible shows, people and experiences. I grew so much there as an artist. Every year they try to make life better for their actors and they truly care. They are such a progressive and young group putting on truly artistically fulfilling and creative work. Love em. I think they are great for anyone whether you are a college student, just starting out, or a theatre veteran. They have so much to offer.
