They hire really talented actors but the staff isnt great!
I’m not sure where they are going wrong but I felt like I wasn’t liked even while they smiled in my face.
I worked some of the best company actors and singers that I’ve ever met however I don’t get how some of these great singers and dancers choose to stay in New Hampshire and get sucked into this bubble that isn’t sweet.
1. They do not have a proper costume designer that effectively knows how to design a show. We were given costumes by the artistic directors (who do everything Themselves)
The costumes came from amazon Lmao. (which were distastefully given for the shows overall style).
2. This doesn’t matter but is uncomfortable; the Artistic Director’s happen to be in a throuple relationship with one of the company actors. which is totally fine, but the thought of a young professional actor graduating from school and going to a nonunion theater to start work, meanwhile two older men are preying on this young actor and giving him every single role he wants and imagines is sickening...
Go & see the shows.. it won’t take long for you to see the shows they specifically give to said actor. But they can get away with it because he’s a company actor. Which is a conflict of interest in my book. But they are
non union..
3. they are non union.
4. they claim to not have money but they have a newly owned rehearsal space but couldn’t negotiate $100, $200 more for a contract that doesn’t even pay you enough to buy groceries? Okay.
4. They have hidden microphones all around the theatre that they use to listen to conversations (which is weird and very uncomfortable to find out).
5. they really need to do a better job with creating a space that doesn’t feel fake and ingenious. They claim to want to make strides to being inclusive and I see it but they seem to be unaware of how the the theatre and the staff creates a hostile and uncomfortable space.
This contract was long as hell..we only performed on the weekends which left Monday- Wednesday free for us. but it made time go by so slow. there were so many cliques and I truly felt like no one wanted me there.
like I mentioned before, they hire great talent and the shows come together to be good but the weird struggle of living in host homes, dealing with shitty pay (that they don’t tax) and having so many cliques that are very well evident in each cast..I don’t think it’s worth working here.
